Day 1
Kigali to Uganda’s Gorilla Highlands
our 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari via Kigali begins with collection from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in the city. Meet your professional driver-guide for a short safari briefing before beginning the scenic journey towards the Rwanda–Uganda border.
Travel through Rwanda’s rolling countryside, passing cultivated hills, rural communities and mountain landscapes. After completing the necessary border formalities, continue into southwestern Uganda, where the scenery gradually changes to forested slopes, terraced farms and the dramatic highlands surrounding the gorilla parks. Comparable Kigali-to-Bwindi itineraries generally allow approximately four to five hours for the journey, although the final duration depends on the border crossing, road conditions and assigned trekking sector.

Day 2
Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience
After an early breakfast, transfer to the designated park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing. Park officials will explain trekking procedures, appropriate behaviour near the gorillas, safety requirements and the forest conditions you may encounter during the activity.
Join experienced trackers and armed park rangers for the walk into the forest in search of an assigned habituated gorilla family. The route may involve uneven ground, thick vegetation, steep slopes and changing weather. Uganda Wildlife Authority advises that a gorilla trek can last approximately two to seven hours, depending on the gorillas’ location and the conditions along the trail.
Once the gorillas are located, spend the permitted hour quietly observing their behaviour, feeding patterns and family interactions. After the encounter, walk back to the trailhead and return to your lodge for lunch and a restful afternoon. An optional community or cultural experience may be arranged later, subject to the final programme and the time taken during the trek.

Days 3
Return to Kigali and Departure
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before checking out and beginning the return journey towards Rwanda. Travel through southwestern Uganda’s green highlands, passing small towns, farmland and mountain scenery before reaching the border.
After completing the cross-border formalities, continue through Rwanda’s scenic countryside towards Kigali. A lunch stop may be included along the way, depending on the departure schedule and the time available before your onward international flight.
Arrive at Kigali International Airport or your Kigali hotel, where the 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari via Kigali concludes. Guests departing internationally should book a sufficiently late flight to allow for the cross-border journey and possible delays at immigration or on the road. Similar three-day programmes return from the gorilla region to Kigali on the final day.

- Regular
The “regular” or “dry” safari season in East Africa generally offers optimal game viewing due to reduced rainfall and vegetation, making it easier to spot wildlife. These months offer a balance between lower prices, fewer tourists, and decent game viewing.
- Peak
Animals are concentrated around water, vegetation is low and sparse, and predators are circling. But at this time of year, the famous wildebeest migration is in Tanzania’s Serengeti, moving southwards following the end of year rains. Witness the Serengeti dramatic birthing season: it’s one of the best times to watch predator/prey interaction.
- Green
It’s green because it’s wet. This is the time of the ‘Long Rains’ and some of the more remote and wild reserves in East Africa are worth avoiding; accommodations may be closed anyway. Gorilla trekking becomes more difficult, and in Kenya and Tanzania’s reserves, wildlife tends to disperse across wider areas, making animals more difficult to see.
